Hawks point guard Jeff Teague was a nominee for NBA Player of the Week honors in the Eastern Conference for the week of Nov. 24-30.
The award in the conference went to the Cavaliers’ LeBron James. The forward led the Cavaliers to a 3-0 week and averaged 25.7 points, 8.7 assists, 5.3 rebounds and 2.3 steals. The award in the Western Conference went to the Clippers’ Blake Griffin. The forward helped the Clippers to a 4-0 week, all road wins, and averaged 23.8 points, 9.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists.
Teague helped the Hawks to a 3-1 week. He averaged 21.0 points in the four games despite a six-point game in a win over the Hornets Saturday. Teague had 10 assists in that game. He also averaged 8.0 points and 4.0 rebounds. It was the second time this season Teague was a nominee for the award.
Other nominees were the Bulls’ Jimmy Butler, Mavericks’ Tyson Chandler, Warriors’ Stephen Curry, Rockets’ James Harden, Clippers’ Chris Paul, Grizzles’ Marc Gasol, Heat’s Chris Bosh and Trail Blazers’ Wesley Matthews.
Also announced by the NBA Monday, Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer was a nominee for Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for October/November.
The Raptors’ Dwane Casey and the Grizzlies’ Dave Joerger won the awards in the Eastern and Western Conferences, respectively. Casey has the Raptors atop the conference with a 13-4 record. The Grizzlies have a league-best 15-2 record under Joerger.
Budenholzer has led the Hawks to a 9-6 record and the fourth spot in the Conference behind the Raptors, Wizards and Bulls.
Other nominees were the Bulls’ Tom Thibodeau, Mavericks’ Rick Carlisle, Warriors’ Steve Kerr, Rockets’ Kevin McHale, Clippers’ Doc Rivers, Bucks’ Jason Kidd, Trail Blazers’ Terry Stotts, Spurs’ Gregg Popovich and Wizards’ Randy Wittman.
