Tiago Splitter will miss at least the next two games with mild right calf strain. The Hawks backup center did not accompany the team Sunday when they left on a two-game road trip at the Pacers and Rockets.

Splitter was injured in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Knicks. At the time, it was announced he had lower right leg soreness and that his return was questionable. He did not return. According to the team, tests revealed the calf strain. The Hawks injury report stated that Splitter’s status would be updated when appropriate. The injury is not considered to keep Splitter out of the lineup for an extended period of time.

Splitter missed seven games earlier this season with a right hip injury. He has 5.6 points and 3.3 rebounds in 16 minutes in his 23 games. The injury likely means increased playing time for Mike Muscala.
