Hawks report card versus Nets
A recap of the Hawks’ 101-87 victory over the Nets Wednesday:
Noteworthy
* Dennis Schroder set a career-high for 3-pointers in a game with three, all in the third quarter. Schroder said it was a halftime tip from Kyle Korver who helped him get his shot straight. The advice? Use your legs more and release the ball quicker.
* Shelvin Mack made his season debut when he entered the game with 3:05 remaining in the first quarter. He played eight minutes. Tim Hardaway Jr. is the only Hawk not to play this season, including the final 1:37 when the Hawks emptied their bench.
* Jeff Teague moved into ninth place on the Hawks’ all-time assists list (2,236) moving past Jason Terry.
* Al Horford had two blocks and is now tied with Dominique Wilkins for sixth in Atlanta history (588).
* The Hawks have won five straight games with not a completely healthy roster. Korver and Sefolosha have sat two games for ankle rehabilitation and Mike Muscala returned after spraining his right ankle in the opener.
“Regardless of what the (injury) circumstances are, we always like to look at opportunities for guys to continue to develop and grow,” Hawks coach Mike Budenholzer said. “Justin Holiday has gotten a couple (games). Lamar Patterson has played well. Mike Scott and (Mike Muscala) you feel great about either one of them playing the backup power forward. All our guys get to continue to develop and grow which we think is crucial to our success.”
* For the second time this season, both with Korver sitting on the second game of a back-to-back, Schroder started alongside Teague in the backcourt.
* Korver, who does not like to sit out especially as he tries to regain his shooting rhythm following offseason surgeries, couldn’t talk his way back in the lineup. The Spurs’ Manu Ginobili reportedly did so last week for the Spurs. When that fact was mentioned to Budenholzer, he said: “We are working our way to that stage in our relationship.”
* Sefolosha will got to New York City on Thursday for a deposition in his civil law suit against the city, the police department and the eight officers involved in his arrest. He will be in New Orleans in time for Friday’s game against the Pelicans.
Key stat

The Hawks have 15 steals and 10 blocks. Paul Millsap had five steals and Kent Bazemore and Jeff Teague had three each. Justin Holiday had four blocks and Al Horford and Bazemore had two each. It was the first time the Hawks reached those numbers since April 9, 1997 in a game against the 76ers.
Quote of the game
“It’s me being active and giving everything I have, really trying to be like Baze. Baze got those two early and I was like ‘I need to get some blocks too.’” - Holiday on his four blocked shots
Report card
Offense: B
The Hawks scored 60 second-half points. It was a nice performance after a slow start. The effort helped overcome a poor shooting first half (14 of 37, 37.8 percent) in which the Hawks had seven turnovers. The ball movement was much better in the second half.
Defense: B
A solid but not great performance. The Hawks allowed the Nets 26 and 27 points in the second and third quarters, respectively. They held the Nets to 17 points in the first and fourth quarters. The Nets shot just 35 percent (7 of 20) in the fourth quarter as the Hawks were able to pull away.
