The Hawks released point guard Will Bynum on Friday, a move that reduced their roster to 16 players. The Hawks will need to make one more roster move to get to the maximum of 15 players.

Josh Magette remains the only player remaining on the roster with a non-guaranteed contract.

Bynum appeared in all seven exhibition games this preseason. He totaled 33 points, 22 assists and nine rebounds. He played the final four minutes of Thursday’s exhibition win over the Bulls with three assists and one rebound.

Bynum, an eight-year NBA veteran, played 360 career games with Golden State, Detroit and Washington. He averaged 8.1 points, 3.3 assists and 1.6 assists. Bynum, 33, played at Georgia Tech before beginning his professional career.

Following the move, Bynum thanked the Hawks organization via social media. On Twitter he posted: “Appreciate the luv, tough people last tough times don’t. Very thankful to be a part of something special. World class organizaton @ATLHawks.”

Magette has appeared in three exhibition games and totaled three points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals. He did not play in Thursday’s finale.
