The Hawks received several awards honoring them for their 2014-15 season Thursday night by the Atlanta Sports Council.

At the council’s 11th annual Atlanta Sports Awards ceremony, the Hawks were named Team of the Year for their historic 60-win NBA season that culminated in the franchise’s first-ever trip to the Eastern Conference finals.

In addition, Paul Millsap was named Professional Athlete of the Year and Mike Budenholzer was awarded Coach of the Year.

In other awards:

* Former Braves pitcher John Smoltz was the recipient of the 2016 Lifetime Achievement Award.

* Lee McCoy, the University of Georgia golfer, was named the Collegiate Athlete of the Year.

* Malcolm Mitchell, the former Georgia wide receiver, won the Community Spirit Award.

*Jaylen Brown, from Wheeler High School and now at playing basketball at the University of California, was named the High School Player of the Year.
