A brief recap of the Hawks’ sixth straight win, which also was Atlanta’s franchise-record ninth straight victory over a team from the Western Conference:
How the game was won: Jeff Teague scored 11 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter, when the Hawks withstood a substantial rally from the Grizzlies and broke an 84-all tie with a 12-2 run over the final 2:34.
Pero Antic came off the bench to score a season-high 13 points through three quarters, and Al Horford scored eight of his 12 points in the final period as Atlanta won for the 20th time in 20 games.
Turning point: After Memphis (25-10) rallied from an 11-point deficit to tie the game a couple times, lastly on two free throws by Marc Gasol with 2:58 to make it 84-84, Horford took a pass from Teague and drilled a 20-footer just ahead of the shot clock. Atlanta (27-8) led 86-84 and never trailed nor was tied again.
Teague’s 3-pointer with 1:19 left provided insurance, and Kyle Korver (14 points) added more with a long ball with 59 seconds left. Teague’s drive with 28 seconds left salted the game away.
Number:52 Atlanta made 13-of-25 3-pointers (52 percent) to 5-of-17 by Memphis.
Next: The Hawks will play at Detroit Friday night in the first of five games away from home in a span of six contests.
