Three players with local ties were plenty busy during All-Star weekend in Los Angeles.

The Heat's Chris Bosh (Georgia Tech), the Magic's Dwight Howard (Southwest Atlanta Christian) and rookie Derrick Favors (either the Nets or the Jazz, depending on what day we're talking about) all competed in All-Star activities.

Bosh scored 14 points and pulled down five rebounds for the East squad in the 148-143 loss to the West on Sunday night.

Howard scored five points and had seven rebounds.

And Favors (Georgia Tech), whom the Nets traded in the deal for Jazz point guard Deron Williams on Wednesday, competed in the Rookie Challenge on Friday.

Favors scored nine points on 4-for-6 shooting in the rookies' 148-140 victory over the second-year players. The rookies shot 64 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from 3-point range, but a dismal 65 percent from the line.

Bosh didn't have to leave the West Coast for his next game. He scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds Tuesday night in the Heat's 117-97 victory at the Sacramento Kings, Miami's 11th victory in the past 12 games. Before the All-Star break, Bosh scored 25 points in Miami's 103-95 victory at Toronto on Feb. 16.

Amid all this, and following the Knicks' acquisition of Carmelo Anthony from the Nuggets to the Knicks and the Nets' trade for Williams, the rumor mill hinted at a not-very-likely trade of Howard to the Lakers for Andruw Bynum.

The trade deadline is Thursday.

Howard scored 32 points to go along with 10 rebounds in a 101-76 win over the Wizards on Feb. 16.
