Wisler improves but Braves lose at home again

Matt Wisler returned to the rotation and limited the Mets to seven hits and two runs over six innings but New York sent the Braves to their 10th consecutive home loss with a 5-1 victory Friday night.

The Braves (56-86) have lost 22 of their last 25 games.

Hope for the future

As rough as the Braves have had it at the major league level this season, there’s good news from the farm. Braves director of player development Dave Trembley has progress to tout from a farm system that’s been restocked with talent through trades and high draft picks. (Click here to read more)

Maybin may return Sunday

Braves center fielder Cameron Maybin has been cleared to pinch run but is at least two days away from returning to the lineup, manager Fredi Gonzalez said. Maybin has a scratched cornea in his left eye. (Click here for more on Maybin)

Another test for Weber

Rookie Ryan Weber is scheduled to face the Mets in his second start on Saturday. He allowed just four hits and two runs over six innings against the Phillies in his first start. (Read more about Weber here)

Thursday night's late game

Right-hander Bartolo Colon dominated as the Mets beat the Braves 7-2 at Turner Field Thursday night after rain delayed the first pitch by 140 minutes. The Mets scored three runs against Braves starter Shelby Miller (5-14) in the fourth inning and the lead held up. Miller’s winless starts streak climbed to 21 games.
