What's new: Nick Markakis entered the series on a seven-game hitting streaking, having gone 8-for-26 (.308) with his third home run of the season and two RBIs. Michael Bourn had his own seven–game hitting streak too. He extended it Sunday with a two-run single against the Marlins and was hitting .409 (9-for-22) with a double, three RBIs, five walks and five runs scored over his streak. Entering the series, the Braves were winless in 10 games against the Nationals this season in Washington and 3-3 against them at Turner Field. Entering the series, Washington led the overall series since the franchise moved from Montreal 100-99.
