What's new: Nick Markakis reached base the first nine times he took the plate in the series, with five singles (four on Friday night) and four walks. His flyout in the ninth inning Saturday ended the streak. The former Baltimore Oriole was hitting .299 against his former AL East opponents in 669 career plate appearances entering Saturday. Fredi Gonzalez planned to use Freddie Freeman as the DH in the series finale and give Chris Johnson his first start of the year at first base. Freeman started every game at first base last year and was one of only four major leaguers to play all 162 games last season. The Braves need his bat in there, though. Four of Freeman's past five hits have been home runs, including a two-run shot Friday night. Johnson played once at first base last season, relieving Freeman for two innings.
