Omar Infante has two hits in Gwinnett Braves debut

Omar Infante singled and doubled in his Gwinnett debut as the Triple-A Braves beat the Norfolk Tides 3-2 Wednesday in Lawrenceville.

The Braves signed the major-league veteran to a minor-league deal a week ago after he was released by the Royals. Infante played for Atlanta from 2008-2010, hitting .309. He was picked for the All-Star Game in 2010.

Infante played second base for Gwinnett Wednesday.

Casey Kelly started for Gwinnett and allowed one run and three hits in 3 1/2 innings while striking out four and walking none. He threw 33 of his 47 pitches for strikes.

Ryan Weber (2-3) worked 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to get the win, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out one.

Gwinnett is 39-48.
