Chris Johnson felt a muscle spasm in his upper back after making a throw in the third inning on Thursday night against the Reds. But he said it subsided during the game and had improved overnight.

He was back in the lineup at third base Friday night, batting seventh this time ahead of B.J. Upton, and looking to extend his 12-game hitting streak.

Johnson said he felt the spasm making a throw to first Thursday night after fielding a bunt by Zack Cozart. He said trainers treated it with heat during the game and he took some anti-inflammatories after the game, which helped.

“It doesn’t seem to be too big of an issue,” Johnson said. “I feel fine.”
