MILWAUKEE — Freddie Freeman's 3-for-3, two-homer game Tuesday halted his career-long struggles at Miller Park and continued the growing body of work that's established the Braves first baseman as one of the top young hitters in baseball.
Before going 0-for-2 with two walks in Wednesday’s series finale, Freeman hit .310 with a .386 on-base percentage and .502 slugging percentage in his past 162 games, with 58 extra-base including 28 home runs. He had 115 RBIs and 97 runs scored during that stretch, and the Braves were 97-65 in those games.
But before his two-homer game, he had been 4-for-36 (.111) in 10 games at Miller Park and 9-for-61 (.148) with nine singles in 19 games overall against the Brewers — the most at-bats against Milwaukee without an extra-base hit by any active player. It was the only team he’d faced in more than three games without hitting a homer.
