Freddie Freeman’s latest milestone to pursue: 300 doubles.

The Braves’ face-of-the-franchise first baseman has doubled 298 times, putting him two shy of becoming the sixth player in franchise history with 300.

With a pair of two-baggers, Freeman would join the ranks of Hank Aaron, Andruw Jones, Chipper Jones, Eddie Mathews and Dale Murphy. The Braves would become the third franchise, and first in the National League, with at least six players who’ve doubled 300-plus times. The Yankees have 11, while the Red Sox have six.

Since 2011, only Robinson Cano (307) has more among active players. In that time, only seven players have at least 250 doubles and 200 home runs: Freeman, Miguel Cabrera, Adam Jones, Paul Goldschmidt, Andrew McCutchen, Evan Longoria and Carlos Santana.

Freeman is in the midst of another ho-hum All-Star-caliber season. The 29-year-old is hitting .307, including .300 (12-for-40) with runners in scoring position, while hitting 13 homers and knocking in 42 runs.
