Braves right-hander Gavin Floyd, who is recovering from elbow surgery and is now a possible midseason addition to the starting rotation, will make his first minor-league injury rehab start for Triple-A Gwinnett at 6:05 p.m. Thursday at Bulls Athletic Park in Durham.

Floyd, 31, has not pitched in a professional game since sustaining a torn ulnar collateral ligament and flexor tendon in his right elbow on April 27, 2013. He left the game against Tampa Bay after 2 2/3 innings and was placed on the Chicago White Sox’ disabled list the following day. He underwent successful elbow ligament replacement surgery May 7, 2013.

At the time of his injury, he was 0-3 with a 4.98 ERA and the injury snapped his streak of five consecutive seasons with double-digit victories. He signed with the Braves in December.

The Thursday start will be his first at the Triple-A level since 2007.

Gwinnett is on the road for the first week, and will play its home opener at Coolray Field at 7:05 p.m. April 11, also against Durham.
