Chipper Jones is already in the Baseball Hall of Fame.
Well, his 1999 National League Most Valuable Player award is currently in Cooperstown. Jones won’t officially join baseball’s elite until next month. In the meantime, the Class of 2018 is featured with the Inductees Exhibit. It will remain on display through May of next year.
Jones will be joined by for Vladimir Guerrero, Trevor Hoffman, Jack Morris, Jim Thome and Alan Trammell in this year’s class. Jones’ exhibit will include his MVP award. Each exhibit includes a highlight video.
In addition to Jones’ MVP award, each player will have the following artifacts in their exhibit:
• Vladimir Guerrero’s Home Run Derby Champion trophy from the 2007 All-Star Game;
• A signed Milwaukee Brewers cap worn by Trevor Hoffman for his 600th save against the St. Louis Cardinals on Sept. 7, 2010;
• The Minnesota Twins jersey worn by Jack Morris during Game 7 of the 1991 World Series;
• Jim Thome’s helmet from Aug. 15, 2011 when he hit his 600th career home run;
• The bat used by Alan Trammell to hit a home run in Game 4 of the 1984 World Series.
The 2018 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be held July 29 at 1:30 p.m. More than 50 Hall of Famers are expected to attend. Likely to attend are recent Braves inductees Bobby Cox, Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, John Smoltz and John Schuerholz.
