Tony DeMacio, a veteran scout who signed Tom Glavine and Chipper Jones, was named Braves scouting director on Wednesday.

DeMacio, 63, replaced Roy Clark, who left Tuesday to become the Washington Nationals' assistant general and vice president of player personnel. DeMacio had served as a Braves special assistant to the general manager and major league scout since 2006.

He began his career as an area scout with the Braves in 1983, and DeMacio signed future 300-game winner Tom Glavine in 1984.

The last player he signed to a Braves contract was Chipper Jones in 1990, after which DeMacio worked for the Cleveland Indians, Chicago Cubs, Baltimore Orioles and Pittsburgh Pirates before returning to the Braves in 2006.
