How the game was won: The Braves built a 4-0 lead through the top of the seventh inning against the Red Sox, then strapped in for the bullpen ride and held on for a 4-2 win to open a two-game series at Fenway Park. The Braves scored three runs in the fourth inning and rookie Williams Perez (3-0) pitched six strong innings in his sixth start, just two days after recording his first-ever save with a scoreless 11th inning against the Mets. The Red Sox have lost seven in a row.

Number: 1.38. Earned run average for Williams Perez in eight games (six starts) since his major league debut. He gave up four runs in one-third of an inning in that debut at Washington on May 8, and has allowed just six earned runs in 39 innings since then.

What's next: The Braves and Red Sox finish their two-game set in Boston with a 4:05 p.m. finale featuring right-hander Julio Teheran (4-2, 4.78 ERA) facing Red Sox lefty Wade Miley (5-6, 5.07). Then the two teams will head to Atlanta to play two more games Wednesday and Thursday at Turner Field.
