Their 6-1 loss to the Dodgers in Game 1 of the division series Thursday was the Braves’ seventh consecutive loss in postseason openers, not including last year’s defeat in the Wild Card game. They won the second game of each of those past six series … but then lost the series.

Their last series-opening win was against Houston in a 2001 division series, which was also the last time the Braves won a postseason series.

The Braves are 9-21 in their past 30 postseason games, including 1-7 with a .204 batting average and 22 runs in their past eight. They have scored a total of eight runs during their current four-game postseason losing skid, all four of those games played at Turner Field.

In their 28 postseason series since the franchise moved to Atlanta, the Braves are 10-2 in postseason series when they’ve won Game 1, and 2-14 in series in which they lost the opener.
