Freddie Freeman’s two-run double in the eighth inning lifted the Braves to a 2-1 victory over the Phillies at Turner Field Saturday night. The Braves won consecutive games for the first time since they won three in a row against the Marlins Aug. 6-8.

Manager sets tone with benching

Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said there would be no ongoing repercussions for Adonis Garcia after he pulled the rookie from the game on Friday for inattention. Garcia hit a two-out RBI double in the first inning of the 2-1 victory against the Phillies. He was caught standing off second base bag and was tagged for the third out. Michael Bourn took Garcia’s position in left field for the second inning. (Click here to read more)

Minor-league pitcher of the year

One of Tyrell Jenkins’ main goals was to make it through the entire season, so the Braves prospect was distressed when arm fatigue prompted him to rest for 18 days near the end of the season. But the bright side for Jenkins was that he didn’t suffer an injury. (Click here to read more)
