The Braves and Milwaukee Brewers will play a doubleheader at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday at Turner Field, after their scheduled game Tuesday night was rained out.
It will be a traditional doubleheader, meaning one ticket is good for admission to both games. The second game will begin approximately 30 minutes after the first game ends. WPCH will carry both games in Atlanta, and Fox Sports South will carry them in outlying markets.
Tuesday’s scheduled pitching matchup, the Braves’ Tommy Hanson vs. Marco Estrada, will be the matchup for the first game of the doubleheader.
Tim Hudson will start the nightcap against Brewers right-hander Zack Greinke, the former American League Cy Young Award winner. Greinke makes his season debut after being on the disabled list with a cracked rib.
Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez said he probably would wait until after Wednesday’s games to decide whether to bring Hanson or Hudson back on short rest to start Sunday at Philadelphia or call up a pitcher from the minors to make that start.
Fans with tickets to Tuesday’s game can exchange them for any remaining 2011 regular-season home game (subject to availability), including Wednesday’s doubleheader. For more information, check braves.com/rainout.
The rainout was the 16th in Turner Field history and the second this season. The Braves and Mets played a doubleheader April 16, the day after a rainout.
Tuesday’s game was called after a 1-hour, 28-minute delay. Neither pitcher began his warmup before the postponement.
