Where Atlanta United stands in MLS playoff race

Atlanta United fell into the seventh and final playoff spot in the MLS Eastern Conference as a result of Saturday’s game.

Having played one less than game most of its competitors, the Five Stripes have 43 points. They are tied with sixth-place Red Bulls and eighth-place Montreal. Atlanta United trails fourth-place Orlando, which plays New England on Sunday, by three points.

The teams that finish in the top four will get to host at least one home playoff game.

Atlanta United has two home games remaining. It will host Miami on Wednesday and Toronto on Saturday. Its final two games are at Red Bulls and at Cincinnati.

Should Atlanta United end the season tied on points with an opponents, the tie-breakers are:

  • Total number of wins per match
  • Goal Differential (GD) per match (Goals For per match minus Goals Against per match)
  • Goals For (GF) per match
  • Fewest Disciplinary Points* per match
