The construction of Atlanta United's $60 million training facility in Marietta remains on plan, on budget and on time, according to club president Darren Eales.

As of now, the plan is for the academy teams to play their matches on the fields there in January. Two of the fields in front of the building are almost complete.

The headquarters, which will house the first team, the academy, the support staff and the front office, is scheduled to be finished by the end of March. The plan is for everyone to move into it in April.

A topping out ceremony was held last week as a thank you to the workers on the site because the roof is being finished.

Eales said there weren’t any significant changes to the original plans for the headquarters, which will be 30,000 square feet. The center will feature six fields, three with grass and three with artificial turf.

Atlanta United will begin play in MLS in 2017. It will play in Mercedes-Benz Stadium, which is being constructed across from the Georgia Dome in downtown Atlanta.

The under-18 and under-16 academy teams played their first home matches on Saturday at a temporary home at Pace Academy's athletic complex in Mableton.
