An Atlanta Thanksgiving Tradition: The late Furman Bisher and AJC subscribers

In this season of tradition, we continue one for Sports and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, albeit a variation.

Beginning in 1955, longtime columnist Furman Bisher (1918-2012) would give all his reasons for being grateful each Thanksgiving, headlined “I’m Thankful …”

Rather than choose among the many offerings, we’ve created a special page to honor his work at MYAJC.com that goes beyond his Thanksgiving columns.

Bisher is one of three finalists for the J.G. Taylor Spink award. The winner, to be announced Dec. 10 at the Baseball Winter Meetings, will be recognized at the National Baseball Hall of Fame “for meritorious contributions to baseball writing.”
