Trae Young exited Atlanta’s preseason opener in Miami with a right quad contusion Monday, but it sounds like the Hawks’ star guard will be able to bounce back quickly.

Young didn’t return to the 125-99 loss (which makes sense as a precautionary move, since it’s just the preseason), but afterward conveyed that he was going to be OK, even if he’s some pain right now.

“It’s got a little bit of swelling in it,” Young said. “It definitely got hit pretty hard, but I’m going to be alright. ... It’s nothing going to be out for a while. I’ll be good, trust me.”

Young fell down after getting tangled up with Gabe Vincent, who was defending him, but got up and was able to walk off the court and back to the locker room on his own.

“It’s in pain a little bit right now, for sure,” Young said. “I hit his brace, so it was more his knee and his brace, so I don’t know, it wasn’t nothing intentional on his end, but he was being very aggressive and I just did a spin move to try to get the ball to (teammate Bogdan Bogdanovic) and he was just continuing to move forward being aggressive and he just kind of caught me with that left knee and his brace, so just kind of got me really good.”

Even if Young heals up quickly, it’s not welcome news for the Hawks, who were plagued with injuries last season and were missing four players (Clint Capela, De’Andre Hunter, Kevin Huerter, Onyeka Okongwu) to injury Monday, though all are expected to be healthy for the regular season.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
