The shot.

The rub down.

The concert?

All began trending on Twitter literally minutes after they took place Tuesday night. And the momentum of Trae Young’s last-second shot, his impromptu celebration in front of a stunned Boston crowd and the Hawks’ 119-117 win over the Celtics created a buzz that sparked conversation on and off the basketball court.

Conversation that included music superstar Janet Jackson.

In case you missed it, here’s a recap: With the season on the line, the Hawks’ best player (nicknamed Ice Trae by some) hit a long jump shot in the final seconds and celebrated by rubbing down his “ice cold” arms. The shot ended a fourth-quarter comeback that helped the Hawks remain alive in their best-of-seven playoff series.

Some might ask what’s all the fuss over one shot in an early-week game? Just ask people in the NBA community nationwide, and the music scene in Atlanta.

Trae and The Shot dominated sports-talk radio discussion Wednesday morning in Atlanta. The Hawks still trail three games to two in the series against Boston, but will return home Thursday for Game 6 and will have second-leading scorer Dejounte Murray back in the lineup after a one-game suspension.

If Trae Young can continue delivering magical moments, who says the Hawks can’t win again on their home court? The major impact of Thursday’s game – the shifting of plans for Jackson’s two-day concert tour in Atlanta.

Day 1 will go on as planned Wednesday, but Janet and her fans must “wait awhile” before Day 2, which has been moved from Thursday to Friday.

Oh, and the three-day Taylor Swift experience begins Friday at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Two of the top entertainers in the world performing at the same time in downtown Atlanta.

Thanks to Young’s performance on the big stage Tuesday in Boston.

So yeah, that’s what all of the fuss is about over one shot.
