Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan is a big fan and supporter of the Atlanta Braves, but he didn’t get to watch them wrap up the National League Championship Series on Saturday and clinch a World Series berth for the first time since 1999.

“I fell asleep last night,” Ryan said. “I woke up happy when I checked my phone this morning. It’s going to be a an awesome series to watch. So happy for all those guys with the Braves.”

Ryan is hoping the Falcons can follow the Braves’ example and rebound from a tumultuous start.

“Talk about a team that grinded through a year,” Ryan said. “I don’t think they were above .500 until the middle of August. Now, they find themselves in the World Series. Maybe we can draw a little inspiration from that.”

With Sunday’s win against Miami, the Falcons (3-3) have reached the .500 mark for the first time since early in the 2019 season.
