The Braves traded for a pair of pitchers Monday, landing right-hander Pierce Johnson from the Rockies and left-hander Taylor Hearn from the Rangers.
The Braves sent a pair of prospects to Colorado for Johnson while Hearn was acquired in exchange for cash considerations. To make room on the 40-man roster, Atlanta designated Dereck Rodriguez for assignment.
The 32-year-old Johnson has appeared in 43 games this season and has 58 strikeouts in 39 innings. The Braves sent minor-league pitchers Victor Vodnik and Tanner Gordon to Colorado for Johnson.
In four MLB relief appearances this season, the 28-year-old Hearn has an ERA of 10.00. He was better in Triple-A (3.66). He has been both a starter and reliever. He was acquired for cash considerations.
