Honors continue to flow for Albany State's players. DB Mario Fuller (Wayne County) was the SIAC defensive player of the week after making six tackles, 1½ for loss, an interception, a sack, recovering a fumble in the end zone for a TD and breaking up two passes in a 20-0 victory over Lane. … The Rams lead Division II in pass efficiency defense (70.12), total defense (195.8 yards), scoring defense (7.0 points), sacks (5.0), tackles for loss (11.4) and turnover margin (plus-14). … Albany State remains 10th in the Division II poll.
Clark Atlanta (3-3, 2-3 SIAC)

LBs William Hollis and Zimier McCloud played well in Clark's 31-13 loss to Kentucky State. Hollis was the SIAC newcomer of the week with 14 tackles (eight solo), 2 ½ for loss and a fumble recovery. McCloud had 16 tackles. … Former Clark DE Curtis Johnson is battling a hamstring injury and was inactive for the Dallas Cowboys' loss at Denver on Sunday.
Fort Valley State (4-2, 3-2 SIAC)

Marquette King (Rutland) continued his strong season and shared the SIAC special teams player of the week with a 39-yard average on five punts, placing three of them inside the 20 in a 36-12 victory over Miles. It is his third such honor this season. … OL Fednel Fleurenat graded out at 97.5 percent and helped the Wildcats gain 414 yards of offense. He was selected the SIAC offensive lineman of the week.
Georgia Southern (3-2, 1-2 Southern)

K Adrian Mora (Dalton) is the Southern Conference special teams player of the week for the first time after kicking field goals of 48 and 50 yards – the longest of his career – in a 26-21 victory over Wofford. He leads the conference in field goal percentage and PAT percentage. … QB Lee Chapple (Greater Atlanta Christian) excelled in the Eagles' new no-huddle offense, completing his first 17 passes and finishing 25 of 28 for 187 yards.
Morehouse (4-1, 3-1 SIAC)

Jamar Rodriguez returned three kicks for 162 yards, including a 91-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in a 40-27 victory over Stillman to share the SIAC special teams player of the week honor. Morehouse leads Division II in kickoff returns (29.7 yards per return). … Tuskegee had a three-game winning streak snapped in a 35-15 loss to Alabama A&M on Saturday.
Savannah State (1-4)

A.J. DeFilippis (Benedictine) and Kurvin Curry (Hart County) rotated at QB in Saturday's 47-10 loss to Charleston Southern, but DeFilippis started instead of Curry, a change from the previous games this season. … WR Deleon Hollinger had five catches for 66 yards and has 104 receptions for his career. … DB Chris Asbury (Whitewater) had a career-high 11 tackles.
Valdosta State (2-3, 2-2 Gulf South)
Next game: vs. Henderson State (3-3, 3-1), 3 p.m. Saturday
Senior WR Cedric Jones (Ware County) had 14 catches for 127 yards to set a school and Gulf South mark with 258 career catches in Thursday's loss to Delta State. He has led the Blazers in receptions each of his three seasons. … Valdosta State, which won the 2007 Division II national title, is just 6-5 in its past 11 games.
West Georgia (0-5, 0-3 Gulf South)
Next game: vs. Arkansas-Monticello (2-4, 1-2), 7 p.m. Thursday
The offensive problems continued for West Georgia. The Wolves, who have scored only seven touchdowns in five games, were shut out for the first time against Henderson State. Leading rusher Yusuf Holloway (Central Gwinnett) was held to minus-1 yard on 10 attempts and three QBs combined to go 8-for-34 for 94 yards and three interceptions. … West Georgia's game against Arkansas-Monticello is the Gulf South game of the week and will be televised on CSS on Thursday.
Other state schools
* Shorter’s foray into the Top 10 lasted only a week. The Hawks fell from No. 10 to No. 19 after Thursday’s 42-28 loss to Campbellsville. It was Shorter’s highest ranking in the history of the program. Shorter (3-2) plays at No. 7 Lambuth (5-0) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
* LaGrange freshman QB Michael May (Buford) made his first collegiate start one to remember by throwing for 161 yards and two TDs to help the Panthers snap a three-game losing streak with a 20-7 victory over Lincoln (Mo.). The Panthers (2-3) will host MacMurray (0-4) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
* Georgia Military (3-2) was off last weekend and will play at South Alabama (2-0), which is in its first season of competition, at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. South Alabama coach Joey Jones praised GMC RB Tobias Palmer, saying he might be the "fastest running back that we've seen on film this year."
