Plus: Kirk Cousins’ next stop

Howdy, folks.

It’s New Dirty Birds Duds Day, Kirk Cousins found another team, the front office hires continue — and Bijan Robinson needs your help.

Felt like a good time to check in.

‘INTENTIONALLY TIMELESS’

They’re here.

The first Falcons uniform update since 2020 finally made its internet debut this morning and they are … quite red.

The team says the new primary color embodies “passion, intensity and swagger,” and they were shooting for an “intentionally timeless” redesign.

The basic specs:

Here are a couple of closer looks provided by the Falcons. (The unveiling video is pretty cool, too, and narrated by Outkast’s Andre 3000, so you know it’s … unique.)

Tyler’s 2 cents: They’re clean, and clean is good. The shoulder stripes some folks were hankering for didn’t do much for me. Nor do silver pants (there is silver in the stripes).

Coulda gone for the rumored black face masks, but mostly?

I’m just happy to see we’ve taken another step away from the “something a 14-year-old designed on a video game 20 years ago” look.

What do you think?

GO AHEAD AND BUY ONE, WHY DON’T YA

The Falcons are already offering a chance to buy those new jerseys in person.

While having a little fun.

As part of their free “404 Day” party at Old Fourth Ward Skate Park on Saturday, you’ll be able to get your hands on updated gear while enjoying music, food trucks and player appearances.

Festivities run 2-6 p.m.

VIVA LAS VEGAS, KIRKO

In other news: Kirk Cousins is going to be a Raider.

The former Falcon’s agent announced as much this morning.

Cousins, 37, will pair his decidedly un-Vegas-y personality with another after the Raiders (presumably) select ex-Indiana signal caller Fernando Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick in this month’s draft.

It’s possible Cousins sees significant playing time if the team thinks Mendoza needs to grow.

🤑 More importantly: The Falcons stand to keep a $10 million roster bonus offset by Cousins inking elsewhere.

They’ll still eat around $22.5 million in dead cap space this year and an additional $12.5 million in 2027.

EXECUTIVE TIME

In recent weeks, the Falcons have signed another quarterback (Trevor Siemian), a backup running back (Brian Robinson Jr.) and roughly 1,000 defensive depth pieces.

They continue to tweak the front office, too.

The newest hire is assistant general manager Jeff Scott, who:

Scott and new Falcons GM Ian Cunningham briefly overlapped in Philly. Cunningham described Scott as “a man of integrity.”

“His values align with ours, as does his mission to help build a team that consistently competes for championships,” Cunningham said in a news release. “Jeff brings a breadth of experience across all football operations and a keen eye for talent.”

ONE MORE THING: VOTE FOR BIJAN

Have you seen the interactive bracket we’re running over in the Win Column? It’s a tournament of our favorite joy-inducing Atlanta athletes.

We’re already down to what I’m calling the Fan-tastic Four — and although I won’t tell you how to vote, our buddy Bijan could use a little help.

Robinson’s the No. 2 overall seed (the 1B to Ronald Acuña Jr.’s 1A, really) ... but finds himself in a tough battle with the beloved Ozzie Albies.

Lock in your vote and subscribe to the Win Column to catch the results.

Thanks for reading to the very bottom of the Dirty Birds Dispatch.

See you again before the draft.
