Four years after Republican Brian Kemp beat Democrat Stacey Abrams in one of the closest races for governor in Georgia’s history, the two met again Oct. 17 in the first debate of their highly anticipated rematch.

Crime and the economy dominated the hour-long debate; abortion, a key issue this year and one on which Kemp and Abrams strongly disagree, received barely a mention.

The debate, part of the Atlanta Press Club Loudermilk-Young Debate Series, also included Libertarian candidate Shane Hazel.

Abrams and Kemp debated again on Sunday, Oct. 30

Kemp and Abrams met for for one more debate before the Nov. 8 election. The debate, held live at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, was hosted by WSB-TV.

Channel 2 Action News anchor Justin Farmer is the moderator of the debate, with questions from a journalism panel including Richard Elliot and Condace Pressley of WSB-TV and Univision 34 Atlanta anchor Michelle Benitez. The debate was broadcast on WSB-TV and streamed on WSB Now.
