A 52-year-old Woodstock man and his 50-year-old wife were killed in a wreck with an allegedly drunk driver on I-75 in Bartow County.
Charles Larry Porter Jr., 50, of Manchester, Tenn., is charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle in the first degree, DUI, marijuana possession, open container of alcohol while operating a vehicle, and various traffic offenses, according to the Georgia State Patrol.
Porter’s vehicle struck Russ and Karen Musgrove’s vehicle while traveling southbound on I-75 near mile marker 300 just after 8:30 p.m. Thursday, the GSP said. Upon impact, the couple’s vehicle went down an embankment and stopped in a tree line.
Porter was transported to the Bartow County jail, where he is being held with no bond. He was bound over to the Bartow County Superior Court for a bond, authorities said Monday.
A memorial service for Russ and Karen Musgrove, who were survived by three children, will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Hillside United Methodist Church in Woodstock.
