He said he just wanted to surprise his girlfriend.

It worked.

Problem is, the fellow got a bit of a shock of his own when he couldn’t get out.

The couple eventually called police and fire to help out. But the rescuers hadn’t been on a lot of “guy stuck naked in a washing machine” calls so they were scratching their heads as well.

Someone finally came up with the idea of pouring olive oil all over the man.

It worked.

"They greased him up until he was free," Australian police Sgt. Gleeson told The Herald Sun.

Gleeson told the BBC it wasn't easy, even with the oil but with enough effort, he popped out.

"It would be fair to say the gentleman was very embarrassed," Gleeson finished with a smile.
