Dayton Fire District Chief Vincent Wiley said crews were dispatched to reports of a car striking a structure around 3:45 a.m. Wednesday. Wiley said an investigation found a vehicle lost control about a block away, went off the side of the road, hit a tree and a small hill, and sailed over the house’s air conditioning unit and into the side of the porch.

“They probably wish they hadn’t done it, but I bet they could never do it again even if they tried,” Wiley said.

Wiley said following the crash, the driver put the car into park, turned it off and fled from the scene on foot.

The house sustained no significant structural damage and no one inside the house was injured.

“In my 32 years, I’ve seen them up into houses pretty well, but to get it this perfect, they take the cake,” Wiley said. “They are going to get the cake at my retirement party.”

Dayton police said they believe they have one person who was involved in the crash who was found a short distance away, but officers said she has initially denied any involvement.

Getting the car removed from the house was the next task.

“I’m glad it’s not my job,” Wiley said. “That tow truck driver is going to have a heck of a story to tell his kids.”
