A couple from Australia looking to sell their house found a willing buyer, but only if the couple included Tiffany the family cat as part of the deal.

What started as a joke turned into a reality, and an additional $140,000 Australia dollars (roughly $122,00 USD) for the sellers of the Glen Iris, Australia, home.

Fran Perceval, who bought Tiffany four years ago for her son, Sam, who is now 19, decided to take the deal.

"Tiffany decided she would sit on the couch," Fran Perceval told the Herald Sun newspaper in Australia. "People would come through, and she'd observe them and be patted. She loved all the attention — she does look a bit ornamental."

Fran Perceval had jokingly suggested to her real estate agent that Tiffany could be included in the sale, because “she believes the house is her property.”

"The buyer wouldn't sign the contract unless he got the cat, so as far as I'm concerned, he can have the cat," Glen Coutinho, the real estate agent, told the Herald Sun.

The Percevals report their son was initially against the arrangement with Tiffany until he found out the family buying the house had young children.

Fran Perceval said Sam is planning an overseas trip next year and the extra money from the sale could help pay for his trip.

“And he can’t take a cat with him,” she said.
