A Tampa, Florida family going through their grandparent's attic made an interesting discovery: a treasure map, some coins, and an old  human hand!

Mike Lopez tells WFLA that his sister was cleaning out the attic when she came across a wooden box. When she opened it up, there was a photo of their great-grandparents, some coins, a Tampa-area map, and what appeared to be a human hand wearing a ring, all neatly arranged.

Lopez brought the findings to Tampa Bay History Center Curator Rodney Kite-Powell to see what he could make of these disturbing artifacts.

"Well, that certainly is a hand," said Kite-Powell. He says the map is likely a blueprint from the 1920s or 30s. It bares the name 'Gasper' which Lopez believes could be connected to Florida pirate Jose Gaspar from the early-19th century. Gaspar inspired the annual Tampa festival '

.' Kite-Powell says that the hand is most likely not Gasper's he has ruled out the coins to be Spanish treasure since they are too thin.

The question remains: is this a real human hand? Experts are uncertain and say further examination is needed.
