Pope Francis took his papal name from St. Francis of Assisi, who is known as the patron saint of animals and the environment, so it’s no wonder that pet lovers are getting in the spirit as Pope Francis makes his historic U.S. visit.

The hashtags #PopeDog and #PopeCat have been created on Instagram, and people are posting photos of their pets dressed in pope garb.
