A busy DeKalb County interstate ramp has reopened after being closed for several hours by an overturned tractor-trailer.

The truck, which was hauling 45,000 pounds of stainless steel, overturned around 6 a.m. on the Spaghetti Junction ramp from I-285 east to I-85 north.

The truck’s driver was not seriously injured in the crash, which blocked the ramp until shortly before 8:30 a.m.

The crash also caused spectator delays for motorists traveling south on I-85, according to the WSB 24-hour Traffic Center.

Tuesday morning commuters headed into Atlanta on Ga. 400 southbound were also in for a slow ride because of roadwork.

According to the Georgia Department of Transportation, emergency roadwork before Abernathy Road shut down a right lane, causing a 10-mile backup for southbound traffic on Ga. 400.

“There are currently 35 to 40 minute delays in this area,” according to an alert on the agency’s website. “Motorists are strongly urged to use alternate routes to avoid this delay.”

The right lane remained blocked before Abernathy Road at 8:30 a.m., with traffic jammed to beyond Old Milton Parkway.
