Two woman and two children were seriously injured in a head-on collision Thursday in Paulding County, police said.

The accident happened shortly before 5 p.m. and shut down Highway 92 north of Brownsville Road for several hours, the Paulding sheriff’s office said.

Lordly Rattray, of Smyrna, was driving a blue Nissan Versa in a left southbound lane on Highway 92, when she swerved to the left and crossed the center turn lane, the Georgia State Patrol said in an email.

The Nissan struck head on a gray Hyundai Elantra that was traveling northbound on Highway 92.

The Hyundai driver, Carletta Hicks, of Hiram, had two children, ages 5 and 1,in the car. The children were flown to Scottish Rite Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta and Hicks was taken by ambulance to Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw. Police have not released the relationship of the children to Hicks.

Rattray, who was the sole occupant in the Nissan, was flown to Kennestone Hospital in Kennesaw, Paulding sheriff’s spokesman Ashley Henson said.

The crash remains under investigation and state officials said charges are pending.
