An adult and two children were injured Wednesday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash on southbound I-85 in Coweta County, authorities said.

The driver of a Ford F-350 pickup truck and a child passenger were flown to Grady Memorial Hospital and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, respectively, with injuries from the crash, the Georgia State Patrol said in a statement.

Another child passenger in the truck was taken by ambulance to Grady, according to the GSP.

About 12:40 p.m., the Ford, which was carrying a load of donkeys, was in the middle lane and tried a lane change, according to the GSP. The Ford hit the right rear of a tractor-trailer, then re-entered the middle lane and hit a small sedan.

The Ford driver overcorrected, entered the left lane again, hit the tractor-trailer in the right side and became lodged underneath the trailer, according to the statement.

At one point, all lanes of the freeway were closed. The scene cleared by about 3 p.m.

The drivers of the tractor-trailer and the sedan were not injured, according to the GSP. The investigation is ongoing.
