A Lilburn road reopened Friday after being shut down for about three hours because of a natural gas leak, Gwinnett County fire officials said.

Crews responded about 12:30 p.m. to a leak on the 480 block of Killian Road, Gwinnett fire spokesman Capt. Tommy Rutledge said.

“A utility crew near the roadway struck a two-inch-low pressure gas line,” he said.

Rutledge said Atlanta Gas Light was asked to stop the leak and make repairs.

Residents were asked to stay indoors as firefighters created a hot zone to monitor gas readings in the area.

The leak was stopped about 3 p.m. The road reopened 30 minutes later.

Rutledge said no one was injured.
