All lanes of I-20 have reopened in Atlanta after police activity blocked traffic in both directions for nearly three hours on Saturday.

The interstate was shut down near the Boulevard exit shortly before 10 a.m. after a man threatened to jump from an overpass, police said. Authorities safely removed him from the bridge about 12:40 p.m., Atlanta police spokeswoman Officer TaSheena Brown told AJC.com.

Traffic is moving again in both directions, but there are still heavy delays in the eastbound lanes, Georgia Department of Transportation cameras show.

Drivers looking to avoid the congestion are urged to take Memorial Drive.
