There were several stories making headlines this week that completely warmed our hearts. We’ve picked our top three favorites.
No. 3 involves an act of kindness. Florida Officer Vicki Thomas decided not to arrest Jessica Robles, whom police accused of shoplifting. Instead, Thomas did a very kind deed for the mother of three. (Via HLN)
"She came out and asked, 'Do you even have food at the house?' And I looked at her on her face, and I told her, 'No, I don't.' ... I made the decision to buy her some groceries." (Via WSVN)
She bought Robles $100 worth of groceries and only charged her with a misdemeanor. Thomas says when the kids saw the groceries, it was just like Christmas.
For our No. 2 pick, a 28-year-old disabled former Marine named Rob Jones decided to bike across the country. (Via WFMZ)
“Rob Jones was injured by an IED in Afghanistan, causing him to lose both of his legs.”
"I figured cycling across America would be cool. ... May as well set a standard for double above-knee amputees ... and raise money for charity." (Via WJXT)
He hopes to raise $1 million for charity. The trip is expected to take six to seven months. (Via WDRB)
Now, it doesn’t get much more heartwarming than our No. 1 story this week.
Three years after a central Indiana woman donated her kidney to a man she hardly knew, the two got married.
Chelsea Clair met Kyle Froelich in 2009. He was 19, and she was 22. That day, Clair discovered Froelich was suffering from a life-threatening kidney disease and promised to give him one of her kidneys. As fate would have it, her kidney was a near-perfect match for Froelich, and she was a perfect match for him, too. (Via Facebook / Every Organ Donor, News.com.au)
The Indianapolis Star shares the pics from the couple's beautiful wedding on Oct. 12, three years after the successful transplant. Clair said: "He's carrying around my kidney. I have to make sure he takes care of that."
