UPDATE: [5 p.m.]: Snow is falling across metro Atlanta on Christmas Eve.
Flurries were reported in cities from far North Georgia to Clayton County shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.
Up to two inches are possible in northeast Georgia, but metro Atlanta residents will likely only see a light dusting, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Eboni Deon said.

Metro Atlanta is in for a day of chilly rain and possible flurries this evening while Christmas Day looks to be sunny and bright, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
Look for rain throughout the day with a high of 55 degrees before temperatures plunge overnight.
“Temperatures are way above freezing now, but they’ll crash as this polar plunge moves into North Georgia,” Monahan said, “probably about 6 or 7 p.m.”
The cold weather has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a winter weather advisory for several northeast Georgia counties.
The advisory is in effect from 1 p.m. today until 1 p.m. Friday as parts of far North Georgia brace for up to 2 inches of snow.
A white Christmas is expected in the North Georgia mountains, but metro Atlanta should only get a light dusting of snow. Friday’s forecast calls for a high of 34 degrees, which would make it Atlanta’s coldest Christmas in 30 years.
Georgia Department of Transportation crews are treating metro Atlanta roads and interstates this afternoon as the rain continues and temperatures drop:
Drivers are urged to used caution as the afternoon showers continue. In Sandy Springs, ponding in both directions of Ga. 400 led to a series of crashes and heavy delays shortly before noon.
Getting around town may be dreary slog this afternoon, but the Georgia Department of Transportation has a holiday gift for your commute: Construction-related lane closures have been suspended in heavily traveled areas until 10 p.m. Sunday.
