Three people are dead and nearly a dozen homes were without power after a violent crash along Campbellton Road early Sunday morning.

Atlanta police have not confirmed if ice or the weather was a factor in the accident, but have acknowledged that car was traveling at a high-rate of speed moments before it crashed into a power pole around 3 a.m.

The Fulton County Medical Examiners Office has not yet released the names of the accident victimes.

While GDOT said the worst is over, the potential for ice is still strong — particularly in northern counties — with low Sunday temperatures.

On Saturday, Malik Jordan, a 20-year-old Georgia State University student, was killed on I-75 in Middle Georgia while heading back to Atlanta from Albany.

According to Sgt. Lawson Bittick of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department Jordan was northbound in a Lincoln Navigator when the SUV struck a patch of ice on a bridge over Ga. 42, causing him to lose control,

Utility crews were still cleaning up the crash site on Campbellton Road and Niskey Lake Road late Sunday morning.

About 10 homes were left without power due to the crash.
