According to police, the incident occurred at 4:40 a.m. at a Comerica Bank on the west side of the city. Authorities said the thieves were attempting to break into the bank's ATM, WDIV reported.

Police said the driver fled the scene in a gray van, which was later discovered, WXYZ reported.

"I'm just thinking it's so sad because it keeps getting robbed," Tamika Toliver, who regularly visits the bank, told WDIV. "They need security standing out here, and this is a known place to get robbed."

The bank's manager told police no money was taken, WJBK reported.
