1. Miss Georgia is now Miss America

Betty Cantrell of Georgia was named Miss America during the contest Sunday night on a platform of "healthy children, strong America." Read more.

2. Big Brothers Big Sisters honors community leaders

Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Metro Atlanta held the Legacy Awards Gala this weekend at the St. Regis Hotel in Buckhead. Three civic and business leaders who symbolize the nonprofit organization's ideals were honored including former Atlanta Falcons player Warrick Dunn, founder of Warrick Dunn Charities; Dennis P. Lockhart, president and chief executive officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta and more. Read more.

3. Braves blow late lead in franchise-record 12th straight home loss

The Braves have lost 24 of 27 games. Sunday's loss to the New York Mets marks a 12-game home skid — the longest in franchise history since accurate records were first kept in 1914. The Atlanta team is tied for last-place with Philadelphia at 56-88. Read more.

5. Remembering Moses Malone: Great player, unforgettable man
