Q: What’s the status of the U.S. Postal Service cycling team since Lance Armstrong left the circuit. Is it still pedaling in the Tour de France. Hasn’t there been a lawsuit brought by one of the sponsors in regard to Armstrong?

—Elmer K. Miller, Cumming

A: The USPS team disbanded in 2004. Discovery Channel became a title sponsor of the only U.S.-based professional level cycling team that year, but it disbanded in 2007. Armstrong was a part owner of those teams. He is facing several lawsuits that seek “repayment of millions paid to him during his career,” according to The Associated Press. These include a federal case involving the USPS, which wants Armstrong to repay more than $40 million that it gave to him and the team when it was the primary sponsor, the AP reported. Additional damages could push the penalties to more than $100 million.
