Q: Do other public kitchens, like other food service places or churches, receive inspections comparable to restaurant inspections?
—Frank Patterson, Sandy Springs
A: The majority of church, community-owned public kitchens and banquet halls don't need a Food Service Permit, so health department inspections aren't required.
That changes if a church opens a soup kitchen ministry or daycare where food is prepared for children, for example.
The facility would then need a Food Service Permit and the health department would perform “risked based inspections,” a spokeswoman with the Georgia Department of Public Health told Q&A on the News in an email.
“However, if the kitchen only serves their church members, or group, they do not require a permit and therefore no inspections are necessary,” she wrote.
Health departments offer food safety education to nonprofit event sponsors.
Q: I just saw “The Revenant” and enjoyed the scenery so much. It was breathtaking. Where was this movie filmed?
—Mary Lou Brooks, Dunwoody
A: Much of the Academy Award-nominated movie was shot in Alberta, Canada, but scenes were also filmed in Montana, British Columbia and Argentina.
Director Alejandro G. Iñárritu began scouting locations for the movie five years ago, he told the Los Angeles Times last month.
The Canadian Rockies served as the backdrop for much of the movie and the temperatures were often several degrees below zero, Variety reported.
Iñárritu finished filming in Argentina last spring and summer when there wasn’t enough snow in Canada.
