Gwinnett County police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man suspected in the shooting death of another man at a Duluth-area hotel.

Paris Brown, 23, died after a June 11 shooting at the Quality Inn in the 3500 block of Venture Parkway, Gwinnett police Cpl. Jake Smith said.

Smith said detectives have obtained warrants charging Cory Marzette, 22, with aggravated assault and murder in the case.

The shooting occurred during a party in a room at the hotel, and “detectives believe that Marzette had an ongoing dispute with attendees of the party,” Smith said in an email.

That dispute “led Marzette and a second unknown suspect to fire into the crowd,” Smith said, adding that Brown was not believed to be the intended target of the gunfire.

Smith asked that anyone with information on Marzette’s whereabouts or on the shooting call detectives at 770-513-5300 or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-8477. Crime Stoppers tipsters are eligible to receive a reward of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in the case, he said.
